Picking The Right Resort Hotel For Your All Inclusive Hawaii Vacation

by Fergy

Picking the right resort for your all inclusive Hawaii vacation is not as complicated as it may seem.  The top question I receive from my FIT (fully independent travelers) clients is, “What would be the best hotel, resort, or condo I can stay at on my Seattle to Hawaii vacation?”, and I have already written a post called “5 Ways To Pick Your Hawaii Accommodations” for the FIT traveler.

The key here is that when you decide on going on an all inclusive Seattle to Hawaii vacation, you really will not have to choose between the hundreds of accommodations available in Hawaii.  One of the reasons that your choice will be easier is that the type of resort hotel that can accommodate an all inclusive style vacation will have several requirements.  Many of the off beach, or smaller hotels and condos will not have the facilities needed for you to truly enjoy the “all inclusive” lifestyle.  You must also remember that the definition of a Hawaii all inclusive is a little different than the Mexico or Caribbean all inclusive vacation, due to Hawaii liquor laws which prohibit pre-paid, unlimited liquor in any packages.

On my “Fergy’s Hawaii” escorted all inclusive vacation packages, where I will be traveling with a group of people, the resort hotel is already decided upon.  For “variety”, there will be different levels of accommodations (garden view, ocean view, ocean front) at the resort, along with other optional activity and meal add-on’s.

With all that being said, the question still remains “how do you pick the right resort for your Hawaii all inclusive vacation”?  Your number one consideration has to be by the island you want to experience.  Deciding on Maui, the Big Island, Oahu, or Kauai is something that once you have it narrowed down, helps you focus next on the type of experience you want.

Your second consideration will be the “theme” of the resort and all inclusive vacation package experience.  Does the resort package feature beach and water activities like snorkeling, access to sailing, surfing lessons, in other words, are most activities water based?  Does the resort package focus on cultural and other types of sightseeing tours while still providing some beach type activities?  Does the resort package focus on an “action” based experience, like hiking to waterfalls, zip lines, horseback riding, flume rides, etc.?  Or lastly, is the resort package based on a freestyle type of experience.  This is where you can experience a little of all the above, or just spend time relaxing.  This “freestyle” all inclusive vacation package, is the one I am scheduling for this fall on Maui.

Your third consideration will be your comfort level with the value of the package.  This will depend on how committed you are to the all inclusive style of Seattle to Hawaii vacation.  Many of the escorted trips I will be putting together will be in 3 to 4 star resorts.  This is because I want to appeal to those that want a type of experience that focuses on the variety of activities available in a Hawaii all inclusive vacation.  You will want to make sure that your rooms, additional amenities of the resort, and the surrounding area fits into your idea of value for your dollar.  I will also be available for questions and help on the trip, and actually joining you in participating in many of the activities available, which brings added value to your package.

As you can see, all of these factors will help you drill down to deciding on which resort package will be your ideal Seattle to Hawaii all inclusive vacation. There are also ways to customize an all inclusive experience for FIT travelers, and as your Seattle vacation consultant, I will be putting together some packages down the road for those that want it all planned out.  Next week we will explore the elements and components of a typical all inclusive Hawaii vacation package.
