Many of you know that getting packed for your Maui vacation is part fun, part hard work. The idea behind your vacation is to relax, so unfortunately you have to pack enough so that you are not doing laundry, or having the hotel do it for you. My wife Sheila is one of the best vacation packers I have ever seen, and she has taught me how to do a pretty good job for myself when I travel on business. When we travel on our Seattle to Maui vacation, we travel fully prepared to not do a stitch of laundry while we are there.
Yesterday we reviewed the reasons why you need to plan, and I promised you that today I would give you a good packing list here to work off of. Remind yourself that what Sheila and I pack may not be what you want to take for your vacation. You do want to pay particular attention to what goes with you on your carry-on though, as your documents and such need to be with you at all times. The idea is to organize everything in one efficient system to reduce the amount of bags you take, and the costs of taking them. Again, all you have to do with that list is to adjust it to your situation, and the time you are going to be there on your Hawaii vacation.
The one item that you may not see on the list is my golf bag. When we go to Maui on vacation one of my goals is to get at least 3 to 5 rounds in, and taking the clubs make sense. I often tell clients that if you are going to just play 1 or maybe 2 rounds, you should just do a premium rental for $25 to $30 bucks. Hey, it’s a good way to try out that new set of sticks you were thinking about, and you don’t have to lug the bag through the airport. The truth is that you are going to be charged a minimum of $35 bucks these days to take your clubs, and that only makes sense if you are going to play a lot of rounds.
Here’s hoping that you have enough info now to get you packed for your Maui vacation, or for any Seattle to Hawaii vacation, with as little extra work as possible.
