More 2012 Hawaii Events In Seattle

by Fergy Ferguson

Are you wondering whether there are more 2012 Hawaii events in Seattle coming up?  We have got 3 on-tap for you.  I know that we are approaching mid-summer, and many of us are wondering where summer actually is?  It’s coming folks, be patient.  While we wait, let’s just go for a little dose of Hawaii.

The first one is the 3rd Annual Uwajimaya Renton Polynesian Music, which will be going on next weekend August 18th & 19th.  This festival is becoming da place to be brah for the summer time Hawaii music and dance we all crave.  On Saturday some of the featured performers include Groovline Hawai`i, Island Bound, and The Nikki Horizon Kimochi Band.  Aunty Manu & Halau Hula O Lono will perform as will Halau Hula O Napualani.  The lineup for Sunday includes Elias Kauhane and Halau Hula Pulamahiaikalikolehua.  Don’t forget that there will be Shave Ice, Ono Food, Hawaiian Wear, Children’s Games & More!  Go here for more info Renton Polynesian Music Festival.

The second event is for you paddlers out there, and also those that love to watch these races between the crews.  It’s the PNWORCA: Pacific Northwest Outrigger Challenge, which is being held at the Sand Point Beach Park on Saturday August 25th.  This is an all day event, so pack up the blankets and coolers for a day at the beach along Lake Washington.  The competition should be fierce, and you will have a blast watching these crews dig the water for their prizes.  For more info go here PNWORCA Race Calendar.

The last event for now is the grand daddy that you should block out time for….. The 5th Annual Live Aloha Festival.  Notice that I said 5th annual?  Because we are the 3 major gateway to Hawaii along the west coast, it is only natural that we would be starting to build a solid Hawaiian cultural community here.  This event is a good way for everyone to experience a little bit of true Hawaiiana, and it will be held at The Seattle Center again this year.  The fifth annual Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 11am-7pm.  This year’s festival will feature two stages of entertainment, with the headline act being Kapena.  Yep, we get Kapena too.  Go to the link above to find out more info……
